There’s something about a proposal at Carbon Beach that just feels different. Maybe it’s the way the ocean stretches out endlessly in front of you, or how the light hits just right as the sun starts to dip, or even the quiet contrast of something deeply personal unfolding in a place that’s always alive. This Malibu beach proposal started just upstairs at Nobu, with a simple plan that turned into something way more emotional, more electric, and more unforgettable than either of them probably expected!

The Build Up to a Proposal at Carbon Beach

Dom had a plan, but you could feel the nerves in it in the best, most human way. The kind of nerves that only show up when something really matters. The idea was simple: drinks at Nobu Malibu, a walk down to the beach, and then the moment. Meanwhile, I was already down there, blending into the shoreline, watching it all slowly unfold. Carbon Beach (aka Billionaire’s Beach) has this understated energy to it. It’s not loud or overwhelming, it just holds space. The waves were soft, the light was clean and warm, and everything felt calm… but there was this quiet anticipation building.  You could tell something was about to shift. When they made their way down from the restaurant, it still felt like any other beach walk. Just the two of them, close, relaxed, taking in the ocean. But then Dom paused. And in that pause, everything changed.

The Moment Everything Shifted

The second he got down on one knee, time kind of slowed in that way it only does during moments like this. Alison’s reaction was immediate, pure surprise, emotion, and joy all hitting at once. It wasn’t staged or overly polished. It was real, and you could feel that in every second of it. And then something unexpected happened, people watching from Nobu above started to notice. One by one, cheers started breaking out from the balcony. This quiet, intimate moment suddenly had this layer of energy wrapped around it. Strangers celebrating them, the ocean behind them, the sun still hanging in the sky, it all came together in a way you just can’t plan.

After the “yes,” everything softened again. The nerves melted, the energy settled, and it became less about the big moment and more about what came after it. The way they held each other, the way they laughed, the way they just existed together in that new space they had just stepped into. We stayed on the beach for a bit, letting it all breathe. No rush, no pressure, just the California sun, the sound of the waves, and two people fully soaking in what had just changed for them.
